Senior Manager - Commercial Field Training

Job purpose
The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the successful development, delivery and management of customized training programs supporting Sun Pharma Canada’s Innovative Medicines portfolio. The candidate is an integral component of training objectives, expectations, program development and execution in Canada.
Duties and responsibilities
The Senior Manager – Commercial Field Training, Canada is responsible for planning and executing training requirements supporting Sun Pharma Canada’s Innovative Medicines portfolio, including required training tracked through the learning and development platform, role-based corporate curriculum and compliance training.
This individual must have a passion for adult training, and collaborating with a high-performance team that delivers exceptional results. This individual should be focused on making innovative contributions to the organization, have a positive outlook on change, and be adaptable to a dynamic environment without losing focus on business goals.
This includes having the ability for:
1. Learning Strategy, Instructional Design & Content Development
- Design, develop and implement training programs supporting Sun Pharma Canada’s Innovative Medicines portfolio, including launch, new-hire, ongoing development and follow-up training.
- Apply sound instructional design principles to create curricula, learning experiences, workshops, assessments, home-study materials and training resources.
- Create and maintain training plans that define learning goals, strategies, tactics, timelines and measures of success.
- Learn new product, disease-state, clinical and market-access content and translate complex information into effective, timely learning experiences.
2. Facilitation, Coaching & Learner Development
- Facilitate new-hire training, national sales meetings, POA meetings, virtual events, workshops and other organizational programs with expert-level facilitation and presentation skills.
- Manage classroom and virtual learning environments to ensure participants achieve learning objectives.
- Coach sales representatives during training programs and field visits, providing feedback on product knowledge, selling skills and application of learning.
- Evaluate participant competency and partner with sales management on development plans and ongoing coaching needs.
3. Training Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct ongoing training needs analyses through field visits, stakeholder input, business performance insights and learner feedback.
- Oversee implementation of training programs to ensure execution, knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Partner with the Senior Director, Head of Commercial Learning & Development and commercial leadership to establish metrics that assess training effectiveness, identify gaps and determine next steps.
- Leverage Sun Pharma systems, including the LMS, to deliver, track and continuously improve training solutions.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership & Business Alignment
- Partner with field sales management, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Compliance, Sales Operations and other stakeholders to align training with business priorities.
- Support Commercial and Medical Affairs leadership with training materials, workshops and facilitation for national sales, POA and other business meetings.
- Work across organizational boundaries with internal and external partners, influencing and building consensus to achieve results.
- Collaborate as a member of the broader North American Learning & Development team, sharing best practices and supporting cross-market initiatives as appropriate.
5. Project, Budget & Program Management
- Manage training projects from planning through execution, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within approved budget and in alignment with business requirements.
- Manage the training budget and curriculum associated with pre-launch, launch and post-launch needs for the Innovative Medicines portfolio.
- Coordinate multiple priorities, stakeholders, timelines and deliverables while maintaining quality and business focus.
6. Canadian Compliance & Industry Leadership
- Maintain strong knowledge of the Code of Conduct in Canada and Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC) rules and regulations applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ensure training programs and materials are developed and delivered in alignment with applicable Canadian compliance requirements.
- Represent Sun Pharma Canada, as appropriate, at IMC and other industry meetings related to training, development and guidance committees.
Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)
Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day
Qualifications
- Bilingual in French is an asset
- Minimum of 6+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech/medical commercial training experience
- 3+ Years In House Training Experience
- 3+ Years of sales/business to business experience
- Experience delivering training to a variety of audiences in a corporate setting
- Reimbursement and clinical expertise desired, as well as a strong understanding of Specialty Pharmacy preferred
- Certification in Instructional Design Preferred
Working conditions
- Hybrid role required three (3) days in office per week
- Approximately 30% travel required.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $117,500 to $143,500. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; RRSP savings plan; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
