Business Analyst
Hawthorne, New YorkThis role will provide operational and consultative support through conducting business analysis (market research, modeling, forecasting, profitability, etc.) to generate insights, business intelligence, reporting and presentation that supports the evaluation of critical business opportunities, aspects or operations by leadership toward achieving business unit and corporate objectives. Performs research, analyzes information and data sets, presents findings, and recommends changes and/or takes actions based on various factors (e.g., data insights, regulatory changes, feedback from quality assurance reviews, market information, etc.) to solve problems and improve business outcomes', Works with general direction from manager on more complex tasks.
Duties and responsibilities
- Performs moderately complex research, as directed by management team, by gathering data from a variety of sources, which may include operational data, metrics, competitor information, and feedback from business partners.
- Conducts analyses based on operational, market, economic and/or financial data in order to build business cases and models to derive business insights and inform decisions.
- Analyzes information to identify trends, patterns, gaps and insights using descriptive analytics. May use data visualization tools to further business insights.
- Builds the business cases for presentation to management/leadership to identify and/or improve OTC portfolio and commercial business development. Conducts current state assessment, opportunity assessment, cost/benefit analysis, feasibility assessment, etc.
- Tracks, analyzes and reports on metrics used to determine operational performance of brands and products in the portfolio
- Owns report development and modification for reports/dashboards considered of moderate complexity. Develops, modifies, and distributes standard and ad hoc reports/dashboards to better understand the overall business and/or unit. Develops presentations and shares findings as well as recommendations.
- Receives, evaluates and responds to data-related inquiries by applying knowledge of data and business operations and obtaining information from various sources.
- Displays effective research, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, relationship management, and presentation skills.
- Solid business operations knowledge to include understanding and monitoring of the OTC market, syndicated data (IRI) and other business intelligence sources.
- Solid project management skills as part of conducting business analysis on a variety of projects.
- Strong/Advanced knowledge of Excel, modeling, Powerpoint/presentation skills with good focus on intuitive infographics.
- Knowledge of business intelligence tools preferred.
- Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 2+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work with focuses in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Market Research.
- Prior experience in Pharmaceutical or Consumer Packaged Goods strongly preferred.
- Works with syndicated data providers (Circana) to pull product & Category Specific Data-Sets
- Performes competitive analysis utilizing FDA databases such as Orange Book, NDC directory
Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing/Business Analytics or related degree plus role specific experience.
- 2-3 Years minimum experience in the Pharmaceutical or Consumer Packaged Goods industries.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking and presentation skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills including the ability to present to diverse audiences in a professional and effective manner
- Proficiency in key software and information tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Market Data, etc.)
- Business case and/or modeling
- Strong project and time management aptitude, with capacity to adapt to shifting priorities
