Senior Manager, Supply Chain
Hawthorne, New YorkJob purpose
The Senior Manager, Supply Chain is responsible for all activities related to order fulfillment and contract manufacturing purchasing. The primary functions involve working with our 3PL’s, retail customers, CMO’s, packaging suppliers, planning, logistics, marketing, sales, and finance. The supply chain responsibilities include order entry, product inbound and outbound shipping, kitting, oversight of CMO’s / packaging suppliers, sourcing strategy, planning oversight / guidance, inventory management / reconciliation, and COGS review and approval.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee all Fulfillment operations with third-party logistics (3PL) to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
- Manage high-volume 3PL operation through multiple distribution centers.
- Develop, implement and facilitate processes that focus on achieving measurable improvements to production efficiency, inventory management, quality, fulfillment accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Evaluate and optimize the order management process.
- Review end-to-end process and identify cost saving opportunities in order to optimize costs across all aspects of the order fulfillment process.
- Validate and reconcile logistics expenses against services provided.
- Ensure consistent and precise maintenance of daily order records.
- Proactively address system-related issues and recommend technology solutions to improve performance.
- Oversee budget plans and goals for Fulfillment.
- Develops supply base strategies to support global supply and meet business objectives.
- Interfaces with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing.
- Leads and implements continuous improvement initiatives with key strategic suppliers: cost savings, lead-time and minimum order quantity reduction, increased inventory turns, improved processes, etc.
- Executes formal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (SSI) to formally evaluate potential new suppliers.
- Evaluates business and external market conditions, supplier capabilities and financial analysis to develop a sourcing strategy to meet both short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Collaborates with Product Development and Brand to balance innovation needs of the business with financial and service level impacts of new suppliers.
- Serves as direct liaison between Supply Chain and other cross-functional groups: Finance, Marketing, Product/Package Development, Manufacturing, Other Markets, and Quality organizations to drive activities to drive towards organizational objectives.
- Coordinates with Product Innovation and QA to oversee the supply aspect of Tech Transfers needed to move a formula to commercial production.
- Reviews weekly planning releases with planning & purchasing to align on hand and incoming inventory, sourcing strategies and planned releases with International and North American Marketing forecasts and objectives.
- Buys packaging materials to support kit assembly and manufacturing at the 3PL’s and CMOs.
- Inventory management which includes resolving daily EDI idoc issues and inventory reconciliations bi-weekly aligning SAP inventories with 3PL’s and CMO’s.
- Monthly and quarterly KPI’s.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field, strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- 7 or more years of related operational experience, preferably in a direct response or eCommerce company.
- Experience with contracts, contract negotiation, KPI’s, and oversight.
- Strong understanding of balancing cost drivers with service levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong background in warehousing, transportation operations, and purchasing.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners.
- Proven ability to implement process improvement and manage change management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Ability to function in a team-oriented matrixed environment.
- Proficient with MS Office, including, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced Excel skills (modeling and reporting functions).
- Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
