Manager, IT Network and Security

The Network and Security Manager, oversees an organization's network infrastructure and cybersecurity strategy; ensuring the protection of data and systems by developing and implementing the global policies, managing network operations, monitoring for threats, responding to incidents, and staying abreast of emerging security technologies, all while collaborating with various departments to maintain a robust security posture across the company; essentially acting as the primary decision-maker for all network and security related operations at a high level. This position is located in Princeton, New Jersey. Sun employs a HYBRID work week: 3 days in office; 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive network and security architecture aligned with business goals and compliance requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and prioritize security initiatives.
- Establish with Corp IT global security policies, procedures, and standards for network access, data protection, and incident response.
- Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and trends to proactively mitigate risks.
- Network Management:
- Oversee network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, firewalls, routers, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance and identify bottlenecks to optimize network efficiency.
- Manage network capacity planning and upgrades to accommodate growing business needs.
- Implement network segmentation and access controls to minimize lateral movement of threats.
- Security Operations:
- Monitor logs and alerts for suspicious activity
- Lead incident response team to investigate and remediate security incidents effectively.
- Conduct penetration testing and red teaming exercises to identify vulnerabilities.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure adherence to company/industry regulations and compliance standards
- Regularly review and update policies to maintain compliance
- Conduct audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, develop, and manage a team of network and security engineers and analysts
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Foster a culture of security awareness across the organization
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
- Expertise in cybersecurity concepts (firewalls, intrusion detection, encryption, vulnerability management)
- Experience with security tools and technologies (SIEM, EDR, NGFW)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership and communication abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams
